Build Your Own Adventure: Bryce Canyon

Day 3: This day was extra special for me. It was my birthday, so we planned a couple fun things. We started with a short hike to Mossy Caves. It was a fairly easy hike with lots of places to climb and explore. The actual Mossy Caves seem to have taken a back seat to the Mormon Pioneer’s waterfall. They created a ditch to gain access to a water source. It’s a beautiful, and fun waterfall. I can only imagine how magnificent it is when the water levels are higher.
We then headed to the Bryce Canyon airport, but not to fly. At this tiny airport you can sign up for helicopter rides, airplane rides, and 4 wheeling adventures. We went on a 4-wheeling adventure through Red Canyon. Red Canyon is a short 15 minute drive from the airport. We had a private tour of some pretty amazing views on some pretty sweet rides. After our ATV side by side tour of Peek-a-Boo slot canyons in November, we knew we wanted to do something fun like this again. Touring Red Canyon on 4 wheelers was fun. Our Buddy switched off riding with each of us and enjoyed driving himself towards the end of our tour. It was so much fun. Our tour guide showed us some amazing things and allowed us to go fast and adventure in this crazy beautiful place.
Then, we headed for dinner back at the Bryce Canyon Pines Restaurant. I’m serious when I say it is THAT good. Again, don’t miss the pie. We continued our evening at the pool, of course. It was a great birthday.
Day 4: This was the last day of our adventure, so we packed up and began heading home. We traveled through Red Canyon and stopped at the Visitor Center for a couple fun hikes. These were fun, flat, and narrow hikes right on the side of the mountains. It’s fun to see Red Canyon up close. It’s a great ending or start of a trip to Bryce Canyon. The visitor center had some fun Smokey the Bear stuff for kids, and it was fun….and free.
We continued our drive home by stopping in Beaver at the Creamery, of course. Tasty ice cream and a perfect pit stop on our drive home. We also stopped at Super Chix in Spanish Fork for dinner because I LOVE their chicken. We then finished the 45 minute drive and arrived home.
Overall: This was an amazing adventure. I over planned a little when it came to all I wanted to see (Capitol Reef). But I also tried not to over plan, so we had lots of free time for extra hikes and the pool. I recommend checking out any hike in Bryce, Ebenezer’s, and enjoying the pool time with your family. We loved this adventure.
