Disney California Adventure Food & Wine 2019
How I prepare for this fun festival
Disney California Adventures Food and Wine Festival is upon us. From now (March 1) through April 23, 2019 you can imbibe on specialty foods made exclusively for this annual event. It’s a smorgasbord of carefully curated pairings of tasty foods and adult beverages. Now, I am not a drinker of adult beverages myself BUT I love this event for the tasty treats.
I will not be in the parks for a few weeks but I’ve been preparing myself as if I will be there tomorrow. So I thought to myself…If I’m doing all of this preparation, the least I could do is welcome you into my crazy mind and show you how I prepare for an event like this.
To start I went to the official Disneyland website. Once I was there I just started looking around. I plan on watching the Jr. Chef special in the Backlot. My hope is that our Buddy can join in the fun. It says we need to be there 30 minutes prior if we want him to participate…..so I headed to the app to see the time for the show. Now, I know when we should be there.
The most important section(to me) was the Festival Marketplace Kiosks. This section of the website shows you all of the kiosks that will be throughout the park. It gives you an idea of the food that will be available. It also shares information about the Sip & Savor pass.
Each Sip and Savor Pass is $54 (including tax) and consists of a commemorative credential plus 8 coupons redeemable for eligible food and b everage offerings (excluding alcohol and souvenir items). In addition to a reduced price, Annual Passholders will receive a special souvenir lanyard.
Hello, this is exactly what I’m looking for. I don’t want the alcohol or the souvenir items….so a special pass where I can prepay for the food and save some money seems like a great idea.
Next, I headed over to the Disneyland app. Now, this step you can do on the regular website by clicking on View Menu. I wanted to take screen shots, so I used the app.
Why did I want to take screen shots? Let me show you.
I clicked on each food kiosk, and took a screen shot of every kiosk I plan to visit. I then went back and counted the amount of things I wanted to try. The reason I counted was see how my choices “stacked up”. I wanted to know if buying the pass would be worth it.
I selected specific food items, and “x”ed items that were less expensive, and I could buy without the pass.
Here’s the fun part….I shared my list with my husband. He started seeing things he wanted to try as well, and guess what……we’ve decided that we each need our own Sip and Savor pass. It’s nice knowing this before we even arrive...I know about this expense. It’s going to save us money, and we both get the fun souvenir lanyard (as annual passholders).
The best part is that I will have my phone with me with all of the screen shots, so while we are there I’ll be able to try everything I want, and know I’m not missing anything.
Well…I hope you enjoyed that time in my mind. It’s how I think. There may be a “better” way, and I’m open to it. This is just what’s working for me.
