Do you Hash House A Go Go?
Hash House A Go Go for all your vacation gluttony.
I like food. I like to try new places. I love breakfast. I discovered Hash House A Go Go. I fell in love.
Now, when I travel I enjoy trying NEW (to me) dining establishments. In fact, I like to pretend I'm a local and use YELP
to help me find the best local places. There is however an exception to this rule. If I am heading somewhere that has a Hash House A Go Go CHAIN!!!! I'm totally there.
This unassuming restaurant with a unique name is more than just a breakfast joint! It's TWISTED FARM FOOD
. You get the all natural ingredients you want in GIANT portions served on platters and cast iron skillets.
I discovered this place YEARS ago with my mom while driving from Disneyland to Salt Lake City. We stopped at the W hotel outside of Las Vegas, that at the time had a Hash House inside. We were baffled by their portion sizes, and unique flavors. My favorite part was the homemade scones and jam. The jam was a jar left on the table. Beautiful! I could have as much as my heart desired.
After another trip with my cousin, I was hooked and labeled myself a HHAGGS(Hash House A Go Go Slut). I was willing to go with anyone to Las Vegas just to get into Hash House. It was almost ridiculous how often I was going. I then discovered that there were several in Las Vegas, so I had to try them all. Then, I discovered the original is in San Diego, and had to go there too. Since then they've opened several other locations and I do my best to schedule trips based on whether a Hash House is near by.
Now, even though they are a chain, I don't think they are all the same. The Vegas ones are pretty consistent, but I have a couple comparisons to draw.
1. San Diego is the only one that serves Coke instead of Pepsi. Huge win here for San Diego, but it doesn't stop me from visiting the others.
2. The mac and cheese in Orlando is not good. We tried it twice. It's not the same as the others. San Diego's is the best, but Vegas' will do.
3. Stay away from the strip if you want a LESS BUSY experience. The one on Sahara is always less busy, and the servers are a little more relaxed.
4. No matter which one you visit, bring your appetite. The portions are giant and the quality is great.
5. Snickers Pancake(that's right) is an excellent table appetizer.
So, in conclusion.........Hash House a Go Go is a MAJOR Go-Go To place. The food is great, and worth the experience.
