Disneyland Halloween Time
IT’S HALLOWEEN TIME @ DISNEYLAND!!!
Halloween at Disneyland! It means I can finally let my crazy out and start wearing the family Halloween costume any time I want! This year we are doing something I’ve wanted to do for a few years. With some help from @rainbowrules and their awesome (and comfortable) Vanellope tights and @hatchapatch with their perfectly crafted Felix patches we were finally able to pull THISoff. I’m in love with my little family. So, let’s get down to business and talk about what Disney does to make this time of year so NOT scary, and just down right FUN!!!
First off RIDES…
They change up their rides to reflect the season. How amazing is that? Over in California Adventure you have Guardians of the Galaxy that gets even crazier and louder “AFTER DARK”, and in Car’s Land Mater’s Junkyard turns into a Graveyard. Luigi also gets into the spirit with Honkin Haul-O-Ween tunes. Back in Disneyland (proper) you can experience the Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion with a real live gingerbread mansion inside that you can smell. But, don’t forget my FAVORITE scary Halloween ride, Ghost Galaxy. I’m not a huge scary ride fan…but you take space mountain and add some thrilling music…….I’m IN!!! I’m an even bigger fan after last year when I got to see if for the first time with the lights on. I’ve dreamt of being on Space Mountain when the lights came on. It was a crazy persons dream come true.
Second, Characters…
My sister-in-law is a nut for the characters! Get her up and close with Cruelle, or a Princess? She’s in! All in!! I admire her commitment for these celebrities. There is something so special about getting a moment with your kid (heck, yourself!) and those characters that were once only on a screen. It really is Disney magic. Disney does it right at Halloween time as well. The characters get their costumes on as well. In Disneyland you’ll see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald all sporting some kind of cute costume. There is also a chance to see Jack and Sally. Over in California Adventure you’ll see several Cars getting into the holiday spirit as well. If you’re kid is a fan of the new Disney Jr. show Vampirina, you’ll want to check her out this year too. Now, there are other characters, but I’ll get to that later.Third, the Food…
Have you ever seen the shirts that say, “I’m here for the snacks”, well I’m pretty sure they were created specifically for Disney goers. Disneyland food is always amazing, and the Halloween treats never disappoint. Some of my favorites at Disneyland include: a Haunted Firehouse Chicken Sandwich at Carnation Café, Apple Pie Ala’ Mode from Gibson Girls, and those tasty Pumpkin Spice Beignets at the Mint Julep Bar. Disney has also really gotten into gourmet churros. They’ve created 10!!! seasonal churros for Halloween. I’m a fan of the Maleficent churro with cookie crumbs and marshmallow dipping cream, and the Pumpkin Spice over at the Cozy Cone with Cream Cheese dip.
EXTREME ENTHUSIST: MICKEY’S HALLOWEEN PARTY
Now, this is an additional ticketed event. It takes place select nights in September-October. For $95 and up you get exclusive access to Disneyland for the evening. This is typically from 6-11, or 7-midnight (however your ticket does allow you in both parks 3 hours prior to the party). This special event gives you access to shorter wait times for rides, special trick-or-treat candy stops, special character meet and greets, a frightfully fun night time parade, and a special firework display. My family attended this event last year and we LOVED it. We didn’t do it this year and I’m already regretting that decision. For sure next year… We loved it that much.
Halloween really is a special time at Disneyland, and I quite possibly like it even more than Christmas time. Maybe…..??? I guess I’ll just have to go back once Halloween is over and do some “research” to know for sure. But, for today…I choose Halloween time, and so should you.
